I would give them a B because the traded ivory, gold, elbony, ostrich feathers and slaves. I also would give them that grade because they had an advanced level of trade with civilizations that were more established than them like Rome, Persia, and India. the trade of products did improved the quality of its citizens.
I found another example of why the Axum economy was an A. Did you think about including that one of their main trading products was salt? Many civilizations in Africa depended on herding animals because the rough climates precluded them from farming successfully. Salt was important for preserving meat and also for feeding livestock. Because salt was so important in that region and the Axum empire was rich with it, that probably gave them power in the trade routes throughout Africa.
ReplyDeleteI guess the only questions I have are how the empire began to trade with Rome, Persia, and India and what those other countries gave the Axum empire.
